Roll up, roll up! Do you want to learn about seed saving? Or foraging for edible weeds?

Do you want to swap your way from a scarf to chilli sauce? How about swapping your way from bean seeds to bicycle parts, via seed potatoes?

Join us at the inaugural Seed Circus - a day of learning, swapping, eating and meeting interesting people. Come when you like. Go when you must. Chomp on free organic popcorn inbetween, and learn to make seedballs while you're there...

Seed Circus kicks off at 11am, and we'll all be there till 4pm... at 107 Redfern St, Redfern. FREE for everyone.

Workshops include...

11am - Seed Saving with Michael Hewins: zucchini, pumpkins and other cucurbits - learn how to save them properly!

12pm - City Weed Foraging with Diego Bonnetto (a short walk to Redfern Park)

1pm - SeedBall making with Floyd Constable - learn how to make seed bombs for urban guerrilla edibles

2pm - Seed Saving with Michael Hewins: beautiful beans! shucking, winnowing and saving for spring

3pm - Soil Blocking with Michael Hewins: learn to make soil blocks and boost your spring seedling production

3pm – Corn Tortilla making with Helena Garcia Garza of Fuego de la Tierra.

Full details of the workshops can be found here...

In addition to the workshops, this day will be one big ongoing SWAPMEET - bring what you have to swap, go to the swapmeet area and either dive in and get swapping, or tell a Milkwood person and we'll connect you up with other likely swappers...

We will also have a range of free seeds for everyone who comes along to take home, and giveaways throughout the day, including Milkwood Farm pickles!

So texta in the date and start amassing your seeds, sauce and other swappables. Everyone welcome!

This event is part of Milkwood's Fair Share and is also a part of International Permaculture Day....

Description

The Rooftop Garden Workshop is a currently in-progress rooftop urban permaculture wonderland emerging on level 1 of 107 Projects in Redfern.

In Spring 2014 Milkwood will be transforming this empty space into an inner-city food system full of vertical gardens, intensive veggie beds, aquaponics, beehives, dappled shady nooks and lots of hands-on opportunities to learn and grow good things.

It's surrounded by yummy options for breakfast, lunch and dinner in all price ranges.

107 Projects is the vision of seven of the driving forces behind Knot Gallery, The Frequency Lab and Token Imagination. In collaboration with a community of dedicated creative practitioners, these collectives have been working together to produce arts events since 2001.

107 Projects' new space at Redfern Street is a place for creative practitioners to perform, exhibit, develop new works, hone their skills, engage in workshops and continue to grow professionally.
