The Australian Government has allocated $26.5 million over four years to boost training opportunities for primary producers, and to enable industry, farming groups and natural resource management groups develop strategies to adapt and respond to the impacts of climate change. Many of Milkwood Permaculture's courses have been approved under the FarmReady scheme. Primary producers and Indigenous land managers are able to claim up to $1500 each financial year to attend approved training courses, with additional funding also available to cover excess travel, accommodation and child care expenses. To be eligible for the FarmReady Reimbursement Grant, you need to be either a:
- primary producer (including farmers, fishers and foresters as defined by the Australian Taxation Office)
- immediate family member of a primary producer
- member of the management team of a primary production enterprise or
- Indigenous land manager
What you need to do to apply
Before you apply visit our list of available courses and look for the FarmReady approved badge, click on the specific course you wish to attend and note down it's course number. You will need this information before you fill in the forms mentioned below.
STEP 1: Before you attend a FarmReady approved course, complete and lodge an 'Application Form for FarmReady Reimbursement Grant'. You will then be given 'pre-approval' to attend. You must receive 'Pre-Approval' prior to attending a course.
STEP 2:
Attend the course. Be sure to obtain a 'Certificate of Completion' from Milkwood Permaculture, and keep all receipts relevant to your claim.
STEP 3: After you have successfully completed the FarmReady approved course you have nominated, you must lodge a 'Claim for Reimbursement and Course Review Form'. If you have any questions call FarmReady on 1800 087 670 or Milkwood Permaculture on 02 6373 7763.
Eligible participants are able to claim up to $1500 per financial year to attend FarmReady approved courses,
with additional funding available for associated reasonable travel,
accommodation and childcare expenses. Approved courses will focus on
areas designed to equip primary producers with the tools to manage and
adapt to the impacts of climate change.
FarmReady offers two types of support, FarmReady Reimbursement Grants and FarmReady Industry Grants.
Industry Grants of up to $80 000 are available to eligible industry,
primary producer or natural resource management groups to develop
skills and strategies in response to the impacts of climate change. For
