Open days at Milkwood Farm provide a chance to walk through our Permaculture Demonstration Site, find out more information about sustainable practices and have a chat about it all over tea, coffee and scones. Our next two upcoming open days are:

Spring 2010: Sunday October 24th

Autumn 2011: TBC

Tours of Milkwood Farm leave from the woolshed at 9am, 11am, 1pm and 3pm and take about one hour. Site tours include an overview of Milkwood's whole system Permaculture design, Permaculture earthworks, planting plans, natural building techniques and animal systems. Nick Ritar will be on hand to take you around Milkwood and answer any questions you may have afterward over a cuppa.

Milkwood's open days are free to all, and include complimentary devonshire tea in the woolshed apon completion of your tour. Our extensive library of Permaculture and sustainable farming texts is available for browsing, and you are welcome to bring along any questions you may have about our courses, consultancy, internships and WWOOFing or about your own property.

Prior booking for our open days is not required, however an indication of attendance is appreciated. So if you're coming along, feel free to get in touch.

We have a range of books available for purchase at a discounted rate on open days including Introduction to Permaculture, Permaculture: A Designers Manual, and Water for Every Farm.

Milkwood Farm is 40 minutes drive from the center of Mudgee. Go to our getting to Milkwood page to plan your trip. Appropriate clothing and footware suitable for a working farm in summer is recommended. Children are very welcome, provided they are supervised at all times.

If you are planning to make a day of it we can recommend some excellent local bushwalks, and the local pub at Windeyer (15 minutes down the road) does counter lunches all weekend.
